Hello and welcome to Nurturing Essence sib! I am Takia, and I am so glad you are here. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who specializes in the mental health needs of Black Womxn, girls, and non-binary individuals across the lifespan.

A womanist approach
If you have ever been to a therapist and felt like you had to keep parts of yourself to yourself, I understand. It can be so frustrating trying to find the right fit. Nurturing Essence supports intersectional identities. Whether you face marginalization due to race, gender, sexuality, culture, age, disability, body shape/size, neurodiversity, sensory sensitivities, and any other label you resonate with, WE SEE YOU! As it relates to your mental health, you deserve safety. Let’s unpack and explore the ISMs, phobias, and bigotry swirling in these streets. It is imperative to prioritize YOU!
Whoever said healing was easy, THEY lied. My clinical expertise surrounds the direct and indirect experiences of Black Womxn and gender-expansive individuals, including women veterans. You can expect to dissect anti-Black gendered racism, the effects of colonialism, the lie of white superiority, and all of the residual effects of said history and socialization.
